2011 Bledisloe Cup Tickets at 2008 Prices

Australian Rugby Union has ignored inflation and kept all ticket prices for the Bledisloe Cup blockbuster at Suncorp Stadium on Saturday, 27 August, at the same levels as those on offer for the sold out clash at the same ground three years ago.

Prices for tickets in the Platinum, Gold and Silver categories, consistent with 2008 prices, also remain unchanged from the 2006 showdown between the Qantas Wallabies and the All Blacks in Brisbane.

The Bledisloe Cup Test will be the final game on home soil for the Qantas Wallabies before they head to New Zealand to chase World Cup glory in September-October.

They are also this season attempting to win the Bledisloe Cup for the first time since 2002 and the Tri Nations title for the first time since 2001.

The Qantas Wallabies, now second on the International Rugby Board rankings, won their last outing against the world's top ranked side when they defeated the All Blacks 26-24 in Hong Kong three months ago.

For the August clash at Suncorp Stadium, families will be able to experience the thrill of a Bledisloe Cup Test for just $189 for four people (two adults and two children or one adult and three children) - the same price as 2008.

Adult and children tickets in the bronze category also remained unchanged from 2008 prices at $84 for adults and $42 for children.

Platinum category tickets will be available at $189, Gold category tickets at $159 and Silver category tickets at $119 when tickets go on sale to the general public through Ticketek on 19 July.

ARU Managing Director and CEO, John O’Neill, said keeping tickets at 2006 and 2008 prices was a reward for Brisbane fans who have shown consistent support for the Qantas Wallabies in recent seasons.

“This is a massive year for Rugby and it is important that old and new fans alike are still provided with an affordable opportunity to witness one of our game's showpiece events - a Bledisloe Cup battle between the Wallabies and All Blacks.

"It is one of the truly iconic international sporting contests and it also happens to be scheduled just 10 days before out team flies out for a World Cup campaign in New Zealand,” Mr O’Neill said.

“We want Australian supporters to pack Suncorp Stadium and get behind the Wallabies in a way that will inspire them, not only in their bid to win back the Bledisloe Cup, but also for their tilt at the world title in the weeks to follow.

"ARU made a deliberate decision not to increases prices, and we're sure the Brisbane sporting public will return that faith with an outpouring of support on the night.

"These prices will help make going to the Bledisloe Cup a unique and enjoyable experience, not only for our regular Rugby fans but also those who are yet to experience what our game has to offer at the highest level.”

ARU will also be providing an exclusive Juniors and Schools offer.

Open to those involved with Junior Clubs or Schools Rugby - from coaches, players and parents to match officials and volunteers - adult tickets in the bronze category will be offered at just $42 when a child's ticket is purchased at the same price.

The reduced adult price represents a saving of 50 percent. However, ARU urges those entitled to purchase through the Junior/Schools offer to act quickly when the offer opens because the number of tickets will be limited.
