Adult tickets from just $25 under juniors-schools family offer

Australian Rugby Union has unveiled an exciting discount ticket offer open to those actively involved with the game through Schools or Junior clubs for the Qantas Wallabies' two Tests in Brisbane this season against European champions Ireland and World Cup champions South Africa.

An exclusive Juniors/Schools Family offer will see silver category tickets available to children and adults at a price-busting $25 for the Bundaberg Rum Rugby Series Test against Ireland at Suncorp Stadium on 26 June.

The $25 special, aimed at families with children involved in Rugby and designed as a reward for their support to the game, represents a major saving on the standard price for silver category seats where adult tickets will go on general sale at $69 and children's tickets at $35.

The Junior/Schools Family offer will be launched next month and available only for a limited time while also subject to ticket availability.

Tickets to the general public for the Ireland Test will go on sale on Tuesday, May 11.

Under the Juniors/Schools Family offer, any player, administrator, coach or referee actively involved with the game at a School or Junior club will be entitled to purchase for themselves, family and friends.

The major condition attached to the offer is that for each adult ticket purchased a child's ticket must also be purchased.

However, a purchaser is permitted to buy a larger number of children's tickets than adult tickets.

The offer will be available online at www.rugby.com.au and details regarding the Juniors/Schools Family discounts can be found at www.rugby.com.au/ticketoffer.

"We want to give those families who are, or want to be involved with our game at the Juniors and Schools level, a chance to attend the Brisbane Test at an exceptionally affordable level," said ARU Managing Director and CEO John O'Neill.

"The ticket offer is open to all those who will be taking part in 2010, even those signing up for the first time as our club registrations open for the coming season.

"This is a chance for mums and dads to take the kids to a Test and to do so by purchasing adult tickets at children's prices.

"This Test against Ireland also promises to be one of the highlights of the Bundaberg Rum Rugby Series leading into the Tri Nations.

"Ireland was considered the best side in Europe throughout 2009.

"They won the Six Nations Championship with five successive victories and finished the season unbeaten after also taking on Australia and South Africa during the November Test window.

"The Qantas Wallabies had their hopes of a Grand Slam extinguished in Dublin when Ireland scored in the final moments to snatch a 20-all draw.

"It was the closest any side came to beating the Irish last year."

Platinum tickets the best seats in the house will cost $104 for the Irish Test, with gold category tickets at $84 and silver tickets at $69 for adults and $35 for children.

A family package in silver (two adults and two children or one adult and three children) will be available at $138.

Bronze tickets have been set at $49 for adults and $25 for children with family packages at $98.

Brisbane will also host the Qantas Wallabies' opening home match of the Bundaberg Rum Tri Nations when the Australians take on the world champion Springboks on 24 July.

The Juniors/Schools Family offer will also apply for the Test against the South Africans in two price categories with adults and children's tickets available for $44 in silver and $34 in bronze.

These prices again represent a significant saving on the regular adult price.

Platinum tickets will be available at $139 and gold at $119, while outside the Juniors/Schools Family offer silver category tickets will be $89 for adults and $44 for children and bronze tickets $69 for adults and $34 for children.

Family packages will be on sale at $178 in silver and $138 in bronze.

The Juniors/Schools Family offer will be rolled out across the country and is in place for all seven domestic Tests to be played in 2010.

However, in a significant change from previous years, ARU will be staggering the on sale dates for Test tickets this year.

The four June Tests starting with Fiji, followed by a two-match series with England and the one-off game against Ireland at Suncorp Stadium will go on sale to the general public on 11 May.

Tickets for the three Bundaberg Rum Tri Nations matches to be played in Australia (two against the All Blacks and the Brisbane showdown with the Springboks) will go on sale to the general public the following month on Tuesday, 29 June.
