DIFFERENT STARTING TIME AND WET WEATHER CAUSES PATRON DELAYS

A combination of factors including confusion caused by the starting time was responsible for a number of patrons missing the start of the Broncos v West Tigers game at Suncorp Stadium last night.

Stadium General Manager, Paul Sergeant said, "even though the game was widely advertised to commence at 7 pm, many patrons believed it was starting later.

"There have been six NRL Friday night games at Suncorp Stadium this year that have kicked-off at 7.45 pm. This was the first time an NRL game at the Stadium had commenced at 7 pm. As a result, some people who left it late arriving at the Stadium missed part of the first half.

"In addition, the wet peak hour traffic conditions created delays for buses arriving at the Stadium, and it would appear that many delayed their journey as a result of the weather", he said.

Mr Sergeant said that the Stadium's ticket offices processed a walk-up crowd for last night's game approaching 9,000 patrons - the second largest number since the redeveloped Stadium opened in 2003.
