Today’s Courier Mail headline “Fans say no wave rule kills the fun” has caused some
misunderstanding among Stadium patrons.
To clarify, the Mexican wave has NOT been banned by the Stadium. What we are trying
to limit is irresponsible patrons deliberately throwing drinks and food into the air
during the wave which then spills onto other patrons. Patrons found to be deliberately
doing this during the wave are warned by Police/Security and if they persist, can be
removed from the Stadium. This approach is taken in the interests and comfort of all
patrons who should not be subject to having beer, softdrink and food thrown over
them.
