REDEVELOPED SUNCORP CRACKS FOUR MILLION PATRONS

More than four million fans have passed through the gates at Suncorp Stadium since the venue was redeveloped in 2003.

The four million-patron milestone was passed during the Queensland Roar s first A-League match of the season against Adelaide United in late August.

General Manager, Paul Sergeant said since the redevelopment was completed, Suncorp Stadium had gone from strength to strength.

There have been many memorable moments since the redeveloped Stadium opened in 2003 including the Rugby World Cup, the first Bledisloe Cup clash in Queensland for a decade, two sold out Robbie Williams concerts and many memorable State of Origin clashes, he said.

In addition Queenslanders have had the pleasure of watching the anchor tenants such as the Brisbane Broncos, the Roar and the Reds on a weekly basis in a stadium which many consider to be one of the world s premier sporting venues.

And there is much to look forward to in the future with Suncorp scheduled to host the British rock group the Police, the Rugby League World Cup Final and future Bledisloe Cup clashes.

Mr Sergeant said events at Suncorp also contribute to the states economy with last year s Bledisloe Cup clash had a direct economic benefit to the state of around $17 million.

"Fans come for the game, stay for a holiday and the whole State benefits. This means jobs and a boost in accommodation, business services, transport, retail and trade sectors, he said.

That's not to mention the fact that Queensland is also seen by millions of television viewers around the world, Mr Sergeant said.
