RISK MANAGEMENT ACCREDITATION A FIRST FOR AUSTRALIAN SPORTING VENUE

Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane has become the first major Australian sporting venue to receive quality assurance accreditation for its risk management procedures.

The 52,500 seat Stadium has been awarded the AS NZS 4360:2004 Risk Management Standard. This involved assessment of the Stadium s overall framework for managing risk as well as the processes and specific practices employed by the operator, Ogden IFC.

The risk management accreditation is in addition to the 9001:2000 Quality Management Certificate Ogden IFC secured for the Stadium soon after the redeveloped venue opened in June 2003.

The Stadium is home to the Brisbane Broncos which plays in the National Rugby League competition, the Queensland State of Origin Rugby League team, the Queensland Roar in the A-League national soccer competition, and the Wallabies for Rugby Test matches played in Queensland. From 2006, the Queensland Reds will play six of their Super 14 Rugby Union home games at the Stadium.

Brisbane-based Ogden IFC is the largest venue management company in the Asia Pacific region. Among the venues it operates are the Cairns, Brisbane, Darwin and Kuala Lumpur Convention Centres, Telstra Stadium in Sydney and four State Theatres in Perth.

Ogden IFC operates the Queensland Government-owned Suncorp Stadium and Brisbane Entertainment Centre for the Major Sports Facilities Authority.
