SUNCORP STADIUM'S MILLIONTH SPECTATOR TO PASS THROUGH GATES TONIGHT

One lucky spectator at Suncorp Stadium tonight will be treated to more than an exciting game of football, the Acting Premier and Minister for Sport, Mr Terry Mackenroth, said.

Mr Mackenroth said the Stadium's one millionth spectator anticipated at the Brisbane Broncos v St George-Illawarra Dragons game tonight will receive $10,000 worth of prizes.

Mr Mackenroth will join Broncos CEO Bruno Cullen on the field before kick-off to hand over the package to the history-making footy fan.

"The redeveloped Suncorp Stadium is still short of its first birthday, but already it will have seated one million spectators after tonight," Mr Mackenroth said.

"It is a magnificent milestone from a magnificent stadium.

"On June 1 last year, the first game was held between the Broncos and the Newcastle Knights.

"While the Broncos have proudly called it home, footy fans from across Australia, and indeed around the world, have flooded through the gates since then and have realised why the stadium has been hailed the best in the world.

"We have had die-hard team fans, mums and dads with their families, celebrities and even a spot of royalty when Prince Harry took time out on his Australian visit to cheer on England during the Rugby World Cup.

"It has hosted 13 Broncos fixtures, two State-of-Origin clashes, nine Rugby World Cup matches (including two quarter finals), a Rugby Test and a Super 12 game."

Tonight's winner will receive:

* a signed, framed Broncos jersey with a commemorative plaque;
* 2 x five year member season passes to Brisbane Broncos home matches;
* $1,000 deposited in a new Suncorp Everyday Options Account;
* a Sony 68cm television; and
* six months subscription to The Courier Mail and The Sunday Mail.

Mr Mackenroth said the Broncos club was certain the 27,739 patrons needed to reach the milestone would pass through the gates tonight.

"We are expecting a great crowd tonight to watch what should be a cracker of a game from two teams currently playing great footy," he said.

"But there's plenty more to come - this year alone we have another State-of-Origin game, possibly an NRL final, and the highly anticipated Rugby World Cup final rematch between Australia and England."

Mr Mackenroth said after tonight, Suncorp would have averaged crowds of around 37,000 people.

The one millionth spectator will receive the prizes before the kick-off at Suncorp Stadium tonight (Friday, May 28) at approximately 7.10pm.
