TWO 2008 BLEDISLOES FOR QANTAS WALLABIES HEARTLAND IN ACTION-PACKED BUNDABERG RUM RUGBY SERIES

Australian Rugby traditional heartlands Sydney and Brisbane will both host Bledisloe Cup Tests between the Qantas Wallabies and New Zealand s All Blacks in 2008.

The Australian Rugby Union (ARU) today unveiled an exciting schedule of domestic Test matches against quality opposition for the 2008 Bundaberg Rum Rugby Series.

The Qantas Wallabies will begin their 2008 campaign with a Test against Ireland in Melbourne on June 14.

On June 28 the Qantas Wallabies will take on France at Telstra Stadium in Sydney in the first of two Tests against the 2007 Rugby World Cup hosts.

The second Test against France will be held a week later, July 5, at Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane.

The first of the Tri Nations match-ups will be against South Africa in Perth on July 19.

ARU Managing Director and CEO John O Neill says Subiaco Oval in Perth is a perfect venue for the Qantas Wallabies to open their Tri Nations campaign.

Both the Qantas Wallabies and the Springboks share a lot of support in the west and that tribalism always brings out the best in both teams, said John O Neill.

The Qantas Wallabies will return to Sydney and Telstra Stadium for the first of the Bledisloe Cup showdowns on July 26, where the Qantas Wallabies will be desperate to avenge their narrow series defeat this year to the All Blacks.

The two teams will then cross the Tasman for the second chapter in the three part Bledisloe Cup series, a rematch at Auckland s Eden Park on August 2.

The South African leg of the Tri-nations resumes on August 23 and continues a week later, (August 30) at venues yet to be announced.

Test match rugby then returns to Brisbane for a second time next year with the third Bledisloe Cup encounter on September 13 at Suncorp Stadium.

Brisbane has long proven itself a loyal Rugby heartland and deservedly will host one of our two Australian Bledisloe Cup matches in 2008, John O Neill added.

John O Neill concluded, The Bundaberg Rum Rugby Series in 2008 promises to be very exciting and particularly challenging for the Qantas Wallabies who will be playing under the direction of a new national coach.

Ticket sale details will be announced at a later date.
