The redeveloped Suncorp Stadium will be the new home for the Brisbane Broncos rugby league team.

The Deputy Premier and Treasurer, Mr Terry Mackenroth, joined Broncos CEO Bruno Cullen to make the official announcement today.

"The Brisbane Broncos and the Queensland Government have finalised a hirers agreement and I am pleased to announce that Bruno and his team will be the first
tenants at the magnificent new Suncorp Stadium," Mr Mackenroth said.

"It is now all systems go for the first match at the ground on June 1 and I am confident the Broncos will christen their new home with a win over the Newcastle

Mr Mackenroth said the official opening of the Stadium would be on the day of the first State of Origin on June 11.

"This 52,500 seat venue will be one of the best sporting arenas in the world," he said.

"It isn't even open yet but we already have a jam packed schedule of world class sporting events booked for the remainder of the year.

"There will be at least nine Rugby World Cup games, one rugby union test match, two State of Origin games and eight Brisbane Broncos games."
