Queensland Roar coach, Frank Farina was full of praise for the Suncorp Stadium grounds staff leading up to kick-off for Friday night's knock-out semi-final against Sydney FC.
Just before the scheduled starting time of 7.30pm, a storm dumped more than 100mm of rain on the surface, leaving Football Federation Australia with no option but to delay kick-off.
Much of the rainwater was absorbed by the sophisticated high-tech drainage system installed as part of the Stadium redevelopment in 2003.
But there was still plenty to do with pockets of surface water to be removed and sections of the field to be remarked in a very short period of time.
This is part of what Frank Farina had to say about the field and grounds staff in his post-match press conference.
"So often these big events are down to unsung heroes behind the scenes and there is no doubt that the ground staff at Suncorp Stadium performed a minor miracle to get the pitch in excellent condition so the game could go ahead.
"It just shows you what a good ground this is and what great staff they have.
"When you look at how much water was dumped on it in such a short time, it makes you realise what a fantastic job they did to get it ready"
