Congratulations to Brisbane’s own Jeff Horn, the new WBO Welterweight champion.

Horn defeated former champion and one of the legends of the sport, Manny Pacquiao in a classic, in front of an expected 50,000 fans and can now look forward to huge future on the world boxing stage.

It is estimated the fight delivered economic benefits exceeding $24 million to Brisbane.

The Stadium thanks Duco Events for its initiative in promoting the fight, Top Rank Incorporated for ensuring the fight and the delights of Queensland were showcased in more than 100 countries and live into potentially 95 million homes in the US, and both the Queensland Government and Brisbane City Council without whose support this event not have been possible.

Suncorp Stadium has hosted more than 540 events since it was redeveloped in 2003, but today’s boxing represented another first for Queensland’s premier football and outdoor concert venue.
