The Suncorp Stadium field of play has taken no ill-effects from the recent Taylor Swift and Bon Jovi concerts, General Manager Alan Graham said today.
He said the northern section of the field under the stage area has been replaced as was always intended.
“Other than that, the remainder of the field is fit for play tonight.
“Patrons might notice some patchy areas on the field which is due to the transition from winter to summer grass. The winter rye grass has died out naturally and the couch is yet to reach full coverage in some sections.
“Nevertheless, the field is fit for play and should contribute to an entertaining game of football. This has been confirmed by the Stadium’s regular, independent testing conducted yesterday which show that all indicators are well within the standards required for first class football,” Mr Graham said.
This game was not originally scheduled to be played at the Stadium. However, as the Brisbane Roar had some difficulty in securing an alternative, both parties were comfortable in playing the event at the Stadium.
The Brisbane Roar have been kept fully informed of the situation and are totally comfortable with the surface for tonight’s game.
