FOO FIGHTERS BRING ROCK AND GROHL BACK TO SUNCORP
One of America’s most enduring modern rock bands, The Foo Fighters is set to return to Suncorp Stadium on 25 January next year.
The multiple Grammy-award winning rock band is set to release their ninth studio album ‘Concrete and Gold’ this month.
Minister for Sport Mick de Brenni said more than 50,000 fans turned out to see them perform at Suncorp Stadium in 2015.
“The Foo Fighters have given us some of the greatest modern rock anthems of our time, and tracks like This is a Call and The Pretender have made them a household name,” Mr de Brenni said.
“They packed Suncorp in 2015 and we expect they’ll do it again this time, which is fantastic news for Queensland. Quality entertainment like this will bring a significant boost to local jobs and businesses as well as a great night out for fans,” he said.
Suncorp Stadium General Manager Alan Graham said the Foo Fighters would be the latest in a growing number of artists returning to the stadium.
“Bon Jovi, Taylor Swift and Coldplay are all repeat visitors and Ed Sheeran will join that select group when he returns in March next year and this will be the 20th concert held here since Robbie Williams in 2006,” Mr Graham said.
“Fans, promoters and band management all consistently give Suncorp Stadium the tick of approval for blockbuster concerts, which promotes repeat business when they return,” he said.
The concert will be held under regulatory guidelines which include measures to manage noise, lighting, traffic, transport, parking and crowd behaviour to minimise the impact on local residents.
Local residents will be given the opportunity to pre-purchase tickets to the concert, with details communicated via letterbox drop. Tickets will be available to purchase through http://premier.ticketek.com.au
