TransLink is ready to transport about 75,000 people to three big sporting clashes this weekend.
League, union and cricket fans who have bought their game
tickets will travel for free on TransLink services to and from the
games.
Saturday, 6.30pm NRL All Stars vs Indigenous All Stars (Skilled Park, Robina)
Transport Minister Rachel Nolan said extra trains and buses
were organised for 27,000 rugby league fans heading to the historic
Indigenous All Stars versus NRL All Stars game at Skilled Park at
Robina.
"QR has planned an extra 20 trains above the normal scheduled services to take fans to and from the game," Ms Nolan said.
Special event shuttle buses will also run on demand from
3.45pm to 6.10pm departing Firth Park (Mudgeeraba) park 'n' ride,
Alabaster Drive (Carrara) park 'n' ride, Burleigh Heads Primary School
and Pacific Fair Shopping Centre. These shuttles will run for an hour
after the end of the game.
Extra bus services to and from the stadium will also run on regular routes 748, 750, 751, 752, 755, 759 and 765.
League fans with pre-purchased event-day tickets can take
advantage of free travel to and from the games from 1pm until midnight
on QR train services and Surfside Bus Lines buses.
Saturday, 6.30pm Queensland Red vs NSW Waratahs (Suncorp Stadium, Brisbane)
Ms Nolan said an additional 11 QR train services would help
union fans head to and from Suncorp Stadium for the opening round of the
Super 14 season between the Queensland Reds and NSW Waratahs.
Shuttle bus services to Suncorp Stadium will operate between
4.40pm and 6.40pm from Adelaide Street (stop 45) and Makerston Street
in the CBD every five minutes, Eight Mile Plains busway station every 10
minutes, Carindale bus interchange (stop H) and Chermside bus
interchange (Zone D) every 15 minutes and Waterworks Road in the Gap
every 30 minutes. Services will return to these locations for one hour
after the end of the game.
Union fans with pre-purchased event-day tickets can take
advantage of free travel to and from the games on QR trains and Brisbane
Transport buses from noon until the last scheduled service of the day
(excluding Rail Bus and CityFerries).
Buses will replace trains between Geebung and Petrie
stations on the Caboolture line from 9pm on Saturday night to allow for
scheduled track work. Customers may be delayed up to 30 minutes.
Sunday, 1.25pm Australia v West Indies (The Gabba, Brisbane)
On Sunday, the Australian cricket team will face the West
Indies in the final one day international game in Brisbane this season.
"QR has upgraded regular timetabled services from three to
six carriages to help get more than 20,000 fans to and from the Gabba to
see if Australia can continue its winning ways in Brisbane," Ms Nolan
said.
Additional trains will depart South Bank at 9.48pm - running
express to Woodridge then all stations to Varsity Lakes and 9.52pm -
stopping all stations to Beenleigh.
Shuttle bus services to
the Gabba will run between 11.25am and 1.25pm from Roma Street station
(stop 125) and Adelaide Street (stop 45) every five minutes and Eight
Mile Plains' busway station every 15 minutes, as well as Carindale (Stop
H) and Chermside (stop D) bus interchanges every 15 minutes.
Passengers travelling to the Gabba by train should transfer to a shuttle bus at South Bank or Roma Street stations.
Shuttle buses will also operate for one hour after the end of the gate from the Gabba to:

Carindale from Woolloongabba busway station (platform 2)

Eight Mile Plains from Woolloongabba busway station (platform 1)

Chermside shuttles from Stop 9 on Main Street (corner Vulture Street).
Free travel is available to cricket fans with a
pre-purchased event-day ticket on QR trains and Brisbane Transport buses
from 9am until the last scheduled service of the day (excluding Rail
Bus and CityFerries).
