Tickets for the National Rugby League Doubleheader at Suncorp Stadium on 27 May go onsale today.
General Manager, Alan Graham said the Stadium was gearing for another “blockbuster” event given the success of doubleheaders in recent years.
“Since its inception in 2009, the Doubleheaders have attracted more than 92,000 patrons.
“Little wonder, given that fans get two quality NRL games for the price one,” he said.
The bill in 2011 will feature the Manly Sea Eagles playing the Brisbane Broncos in the earlier game followed by the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs taking on the Gold Coast Titans.
This event is over and above the 12 scheduled Broncos home games at the Stadium in 2011.
Mr Graham said the doubleheader would be played two days after Game One of the 2011 State of Origin series ensuring an action-packed week of football for Queensland League fans.
He commended the NRL, the participating clubs and broadcast partner Channel 9 for their support of the doubleheader initiative.
“What started as a novel idea has now become a regular fixture on the Stadium event schedule, and it’s great that all key stakeholders have seen the positives of such a move.
“And it's no surprise that the NRL wants to hold matches like this at Suncorp Stadium. It’s an ideal venue with the infrastructure in place to support major sporting events,” Mr Graham said.
Tickets are available through Ticketek on 13 2849 or online www.ticketek.com.au Prices start at $11 for children and $29 for adults.
“I urge fans to get in early for their tickets for what promises to be a great night of football,” he said.
