It wasn’t all that long ago that the hallowed Suncorp Stadium playing surface was covered by floodwaters about 1.5 metres deep.
In addition, the players change rooms area and a number of key services such as electrical, fire and communications systems were totally destroyed.
Temporary facilities were built to allow events to be held at the venue as soon as humanly possible after the floods.
Since Suncorp Stadium re-opened for business in February, a number of memorable events have been staged. There was the historic Brisbane Roar grand final win, the resurgent Queensland Reds breaking the Australian Super Rugby attendance record, the Broncos defying the “experts” with a number of memorable wins and of course the Maroons’ great win in State of Origin game 1.
Channel 7 News has compiled a video tribute highlighting the many wonderful moments since the January floods. Watch the footage below and enjoy.
