Stadium to be Awash in Maroon Leading up to Origin Decider

There will be no doubting Suncorp Stadium’s allegiance in the all important State of Origin decider on 4 July.

General Manager, Alan Graham said today the Stadium – the scene of the battle – will be awash in maroon leading up the final game of the 2012 series.

He said the decision to light up the Stadium was in support of Brisbane Lord Mayor Graham Quirk’s “Show Your Colours” campaign which is being executed across the city with everything from bridges to buses, workplaces, retail outlets and buildings dressed in team colours.

“While the Lord Mayor is calling on business to dress in support of their favourite team, blue was never an option for the spiritual home of Rugby League in Queensland.

“This is about giving Queensland every little advantage it can to extend its record series winning streak,” Mr Graham said.

Mr Graham supported the campaign objectives of bringing the city and State together as a community and promotes the attractiveness of both as a major events destination.

“Its also about showing pride in Queensland and supporting those chosen to represent the State in what looms as one of the most important games in the history of Origin football,” he said.

The Stadium’s maroon lighting will be turned on each night between 5.30pm and 9pm.
