Environment
Suncorp Stadium is undertaking a number of environmental initiatives.
As part of the Stadium redevelopment in 2003, two large tanks with a combined capacity of 250,000 litres were installed. Rainwater is collected from the Stadium roof is used to irrigate the playing field. This in turn eases pressure on demand from the city s water supply. A good four minute shower will capture enough water to fill both tanks and provide enough supply to irrigate the field for between two and three weeks.
As part of its Smart State policy, the Government has announced plans to increase the capacity of the tanks at the Stadium.
In addition, the Stadium has introduced waterless urinals and push-button taps to reduce water usage.
And in regards to recycling. Approximately 19 tonnes of glass and plastic waste and 27 tonnes of cardboard and paper waste were collected for recycling during the last financial year.
