The world’s greatest rugby venue, Suncorp Stadium, will host the world’s most anticipated
‘rugby test of the year’, the Premier, Peter Beattie, and the Deputy Premier and Minister for
Sport, Terry Mackenroth, said today.
Mr Beattie and Mr Mackenroth said they were delighted with today’s Australian Rugby Union
decision that Suncorp Stadium will host the
Wallabies - England World Cup Final replay in June.
“This is just the best news – not just for Rugby followers, but it is a great reward for our
commitment to build the Stadium,” Mr Beattie said.
“This will be the Rugby Test of the year.”
The ARU today announced that Brisbane will be the venue for the Australia v England match
on June 26, with Melbourne hosting Scotland on June 13 and Sydney hosting the second Test
against Scotland on June 19.
Mr Mackenroth said the decision to reward Suncorp Stadium with the historic rematch was
further proof that world class venues attract world class events.

Brisbane embraced rugby last year with the city's tournament total of 406,330 spectators.
The ARU is contracted for four years to play a Test a year at Suncorp.
