Pre-purchase Tickets to Help Planning for Opening Game

Suncorp Stadium General Manager Alan Graham has called on football fans to show the same willingness to support the venue as they did at the height of the recent floods.

Mr Graham said he was both surprised and delighted at the number of people wanting to help in the recovery of the Stadium over the past couple of weeks.

“But one way they can really help is by pre-purchasing their tickets for the Brisbane Roar v Gold Coast United game on 12 February for which the Stadium will re-open for business.

“Flood waters caused substantial damage to a lot of equipment and systems throughout the Stadium and a number of temporary facilities need to be rebuilt to replace those that were damaged or destroyed.

“Planning for an event under these circumstances is a challenge, so its important we are able to gauge what numbers to expect for this game. Pre-sales gives us a clear picture of how many fans are coming, allowing us in turn to ensure there are the right number of services and facilities in place to accommodate them.

“Without that information, we may have to limit the number of tickets on sale at the gates on the night,” he said.

Mr Graham said the local derby was worthy of a big crowd.

“We are expecting a lot of fans will want to celebrate the return to Suncorp Stadium and be here to witness history when the Roar will most likely be presented with the Premier’s Plate in recognition of their record-breaking season.

“Also, it’s the last game of the regular home and away season and for good measure is against their arch rivals from the Coast.

“This has all the hallmarks of a bumper crowd leading up the A League finals.”

Mr Graham pointed out that pre-purchasing tickets allowed fans to travel free to and from the game and to avoid possible queues when they arrived at the Stadium.

He also stressed the importance of leaving home early to allow plenty of time to arrive at the ground and avoid possible disappointment.

“There are plenty of buses and trains to meet demand but leaving your departure to the last minute does add pressures on the public transport system and in turn could mean you end up missing kick-off.

“And leave the car at home. Fifteen minute parking limits apply on streets around the Stadium and on the spot fines will be issued,” Mr Graham said.

Tickets can be purchased either by calling Ticketek on 13 28 49 or online at
