ANSWERS

1)  What year did Robbie Williams come to Suncorp Stadium during his ‘Close Encounter’ Tour?

a) 2006

The Robbie Williams Close Encounters Tour was the first concert at Suncorp Stadium since the redevelopment of the venue in 2003. The British Superstar performed two nights in a row to a total of over 100,000 fans! Sneaky Sound Systems was the opening act for both nights.

2) Which famous building did Andre Rieu recreate for his 2008 tour?

b) Schonbrunn Palace

This was one of the largest set designs to ever go on tour. For the show, more than 250 artists, including 80 Vienna debutantes, Australian ice skaters and ballet from the Vienna State Opera took part in the 2½-hour concert.

3) What was the name of the 2015 Foo Fighters tour at Suncorp Stadium?

b) Sonic Highway

Did you know The Foo Fighters started in 1995 with only front-man Dave Grohl? Grohl wrote and recorded almost the entire debut album himself before enlisting the band to tour.

4) Taylor Swift first performed at Suncorp Stadium in 2013. What other year did Tay Tay come to Suncorp

a) 2015

Obviously a Brisbane favourite, Taylor’s two concerts in 2013 and 2015 brought in over 83,000 fans to our iconic Brisbane venue! I think it’s time for another tour!

5) What was the original name of the band before they changed it to Queen?

b) Smile

Brian May and Roger Taylor began playing together in 1968 and are still touring in the band to this day playing at Suncorp Stadium in 2020. Adam Lambert joined on as Lead Singer in 2011.
