Suncorp Stadium celebrates NAIDOC Week 2024!
Ahead of NAIDOC Week (7-14 July 2024), some of our Suncorp Stadium team united with other Brisbane ASM Global (APAC) Venues for a very special cultural competency experience guided by ASM Global First Nations Ambassador Cameron Costello. As a proud Quandamooka man, Cameron spoke about reconciliation and unpacked the deep connections to Country, Community and Culture, in line with this year’s theme - 'Keep the Fire Burning! Blak, Loud and Proud.' His contributions and advice have been pivotal to the Stadium’s cultural competency and reconciliation journey.
The team was also inspired by a powerful presentation from David Williams, who shared his journey of representing his people and performing on global stages including the 2008 Beijing Olympics. He shared some of incredible work he now does with corporate companies integrating First Nations stories on a national level as the Founder of the design company Gilimbaa.
Join us in celebrating NAIDOC Week 2024! We’re encouraging everyone around the Stadium this week to check out our ‘Welcome’ indigenous artwork (particularly with its feature lighting on at nighttime) located outside our Gate F entry on Castlemaine Street, as well as our Stadium roof lights shining bright in NAIDOC colours from 7-14 July.
