Earth Hour 2021 at Suncorp Stadium

On Saturday night, following the Brisbane Broncos win over the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs, the venue joined in on the Earth Hour global movement.

With a number of essential cleaning and rubbish bulking processes underway following the match, the Venue Presentation and Operations team worked together to reduce the amount of power and lighting being used during Earth Hour.

The lighting reduction involved turning off all non-essential lighting including the Suncorp Stadium sign, Venue Up-Lights and Caxton Street tree fairy lights.

While not all the lights in Suncorp Stadium could be shut off for Earth Hour, the initiative helps reiterate the importance of doing what you can to create change and raise awareness.

The Earth Hour initiative helps complement the venue's numerous sustainability efforts across all aspects of the business. The key Environmental Values which Suncorp Stadium pursue include:

  • Environmental Responsibility

  • Energy Conservation

  • Water Conservation

  • Harm Minimisation

  • Waste Minimisation

  • Sustainable Purchasing

  • Innovation
