'Find the hero inside', your liver!

Today, July 28th is World Hepatitis Day. In conjunction with Hepatitis Queensland, Suncorp Stadium is joining other Brisbane Landmarks like the Story Bridge, Victoria Bridge, Kurilpa Bridge, Brisbane City Hall, the Treasury Casino and King George Square in turning it's lights Green to raise awareness for liver health.

This World Hepatitis Day, Hepatitis Queensland is encouraging everyone to ‘find the hero inside’ and learn why it’s important to keep your liver healthy. Now more than ever, it’s important to look after your health and wellbeing, let’s help the liver perform all the amazing jobs it does.

Even though it’s hidden away inside, your liver is your body’s heavyweight - it performs over 500 different functions. It’s like a factory, it manufactures, stores, and processes anything that you put in your body, including food, alcohol, medicine, or toxins.

Weighing in at an average of 1.5kg, your liver is the largest organ inside your body. It fights infection and disease, cleans your blood, controls your energy levels, helps to regulate your mental health and many other essential functions.

To keep your liver in tip-top shape, so it can do all the heavy lifting your body needs, everyone is encouraged to eat a balanced diet, exercise regularly, use alcohol responsibly and get tested for hepatitis.

Talk to your GP about a hepatitis and liver health check today so you can protect the hero inside you, or call Hepatitis Queensland on 1800 437 222.
