Crusaders in Town

I reckon Tokyo’s loss will be Brisbane’s gain when the Crusaders play the Sunwolves at Suncorp Stadium on Saturday. With the match relocated from Japan due to concerns over the coronavirus, Queensland rugby fans are in for a real treat as they enjoy a massive double header. It will be a strange experience for the Crusaders with Super Rugby’s most successful franchise playing the unfamiliar role of curtain-raisers to the Reds-Bulls clash but their many local supporters won’t be complaining. The Crusaders have a huge ex-pat Kiwi following in Brisbane and won plenty of Aussie friends when they became part of Queensland rugby history by going down to the Reds in the unforgettable 2011 Super Rugby final at Suncorp Stadium. Just last week they fought out a sensational tussle with the Reds in New Zealand and the chance to see them in action in Brisbane against the Sunwolves, as well as cheering on the ever-improving home team against the Bulls from South Africa, should make this one of the best feasts of rugby Queensland has seen for years. Add in the fact that the Crusaders-Sunwolves match kicks off in afternoon sunshine at 3.35pm and the Reds-Bulls at 6.15pm dusk and I reckon it will be a real carnival atmosphere.

What do YOU reckon?
