I reckon Brisbane is all set to find out what it is like to have a second team - and a very good one at that...

With the Melbourne Storm based on the Sunshine Coast due to the Coronavirus pandemic the competition heavyweights will be calling Suncorp Stadium home for the finals series as they set their sights on the grand final in Sydney.

With second spot all sewn up regardless of the result of Sunday’s match against the Dragons, all that needs to be sorted is who they will be playing in the minor qualifying final at Suncorp Stadium next weekend. Depending on results, it will be either two-time defending champions the Roosters or the resurgent Parramatta Eels.

Win or lose the qualifying final, the Storm will be back at Suncorp Stadium for a second game in either week two or week three of the series. It all adds up to the prospect of some sensational finals action right here in our backyard and, given the way Sunshine Coast footie fans embraced the Storm when they played matches up there, they’ll get plenty of support from the locals.

With at least four sides bidding to become the second Brisbane team over the next year or so the NRL Commission will have a big decision to make but in the meantime I reckon the Storm will fill the spot very nicely indeed.

What do YOU reckon?
