Changing of the guard at Suncorp Stadium
It's with mixed feelings that we announce the departure after 19 years of Malcolm Caddies, Grounds Manager at the iconic Suncorp Stadium.
Mal has been announced as General Manager of Sports Turf and Landscape at another ASM Global managed venue, the new Kai Tak Sports Park in Hong Kong.
We’re sorry to see Mal go after a long and successful career at the Stadium which has included 16 years as Head Groundsman boasting over 650 events including Brisbane Roar and Queensland Reds Championship wins, 3 succesfull NRL Magic Rounds and the 2021 NRL Grand Final.
There have been some challenges along the way ensuring the field has always been at a world-class standard with 2 major flood events in 2011 and 2022 to recover from as well as heavy event and concert schedules over the years. Mal has met all of these challenges and taken them in his stride.
The new role is a massive opportunity for Mal and he goes with our blessing and best wishes for his next challenge.
We are pleased to advise that we have secured a fantastic replacement in Matt Oliver who has an impressive record in turf management across a variety of major venues. These have included stints at Marvel Stadium and QSAC and make him the ideal candidate to take on this very challenging role.
Mal will be finishing at the Stadium on the 30th of September while Matt will start on the 15th of September to commence the handover.
